Simon steps up:

As an advocate for students, parents, teachers and administration of Keller ISD, Sherry Simon believes in adequate funding to create great public schools, including fine arts and individualized education. Sherry encourages parent participation, systematic feedback on teachers from students and greater support of students and parents in planning for after graduation and pursuing scholarships.

 

Simon serves:

With over 15 years of volunteering in a variety of leadership and advocacy positions in the Keller ISD, Sherry Simon will bring a strong foundation of expertise and knowledge to the Board of Trustees. Sherry received the Lifetime Membership award from Lone Star Elementary PTA in 2006 after service as President (2003-2004, 2005-2006), Chair of Lone Star After Dark (2003-2004, 2005-2006) and Health Chair (2002-2003). Sherry served at Parkwood Hill Intermediate as PTA 4th Vice President – Programs (2006-2008) and Arts in Education Chair (2005-2006) and PAWS Chair (2005-2006). Also, Simon served as Friendship Elementary PTA President (2007-2008).

 Sherry supported Central High School Theatre Boosters as:  Member (2009-2016), Treasurer (2010-2012) and Banquet Chair (2015-2016). Sherry supported Central High School Choir as: Member (2011-2016), Secretary (2014-2015), Fundraising Chair (2014-2015), Lone Star Show Choir Invitational Merchandise Chair (2014-2015), and Lone Star Show Choir Invitational – Event Co-Chair (2016).

 For the Keller ISD, Sherry served on the Superintendent Search Firm Committee (2003-2004), District Education Improvement Committee (2004-2006), School Foodservice/Nutrition Advisory Committee (2006-2008), Lone Star Elementary School Campus Education Improvement Committee (2003-2006), Friendship Elementary School Campus Education Improvement Committee (2006-2008), Parents Advocating Gifted Education (2007-2012), Parents Advocating Gifted Education Treasurer (2010-2012), Central High School Campus Education Improvement Committee (2009-2011), Hillwood Middle School Campus Education Improvement Committee (2011-2012).

In 2012, Sherry created a program called Parents Assisting College-bound Kids (PACK it up), a support group designed to assist students prepare for the college application and scholarship application process. Sherry continues to mentor college-bound students and assist with planning and applying for college and auditions.

 

Simon seeks:                                  

Keller ISD residents, students, parents, teachers and administrators to cooperate and communicate about public schools and students to create a system that educates and prepares students to be their best selves.
